Success

It is amazing to me how much time we spend trying to help someone do something big, but yet never celebrating the small. The last year or so I have started to look at "what is" and not "what could be." Meaning this, I want to spend time celebrating things that most people over look in a persons life. Rather it be a kid who has spent a whole six weeks of no trouble at school or some small facebook statement. Like this "Still i feel my mind running at a steady pace, God help me so i win the race." Doesn't seem like a big deal, but the fact this person was angry with God because of the hand he was dealt. Because of the work he has put in and people helping him put together the pieces of his life,we now see a beautiful story. We spent time helping him get identification because he had no birth certificate it took a team of people working and going through all the red tape. On Friday he got a job, not just any job but his dream job. 

Through Wylie sports I meet George Levesque from KTXS TV. After hearing his story of being kicked out of his house and being homeless as a teenager, I never knew he would play a role in this young mans life. I knew God wanted me to connect them together. We had lunch one day and now on Monday this young man will start his job at KTXS TV in their production department. 


People ask all the time what will it take to help these kids succeed, it's simple. Time, money, and effort! Words mean nothing to an 18 year old who has slept couch to couch since he was 13. The reason he was that way is not was not his fault and the details are not important. We have had our ups and downs with him but I can tell you this much his success has changed my life. On Tuesday he will take his G.E.D. test and he has already made plans for college. 

All I knew was that around Christmas time he was a young man who needed a social security card and ID. I though we would stop there. Now, he has become a big part of many peoples lives. I can't help but ask my self what if we just looked and said there was no hope? or this is to much work? Let me be honest, it looked that way for a while. We still have a long ways to go, but God's hand is in it. We celebrated all the small details.
